I can’t say that I’ve been a big fan of any of Marissa Mayer’s moves at Yahoo!, like the draconian WFH policy. Flickr and Zimbra were two other products I used heavily before their Yahoo purchases, only to see them stagnate and suck. To give Mayer credit, Flickr is starting to see some improvements again, but it still feels stale.

While both of those products are pre-Mayer, there were handful of useful products bought by Google that became worthless post-acquisition, such as JotSpot.

I hope Tumblr’s fate is better than Flickr’s, but history shows that migrating away is the more appropriate choice.
