Standing desks have become all the rage now that there have been studies correlating prolonged sitting with adverse health outcomes.
I decided to build a standing desk for a different reason. I find that it’s better for short bursts of work.
I had the following requirements when making this desk:
- It must be inexpensive
- It must use my existing desk (see above)
- Lateral movement must be minimized
- It must be at the right height
All of these requirements were easy to meet using my desk’s existing adjustable legs and 8 concrete blocks.
To protect my wood floor, I added felt pads to the bottom block:
The final product is stable, comfortable to use, and fits nicely with my home office.
